How to use Handpan Chordbook
Step-by-Step Guide to Learning a Song on Your Handpan
1. Choose a Song:
Start by selecting a song you'd like to learn.
2. Set Your Handpan Ding and Model:
Use the specifications provided by your handpan maker to set the ding (the central note) and the model of your handpan.
3. Select the Best Key:
We will automatically select the key that works best for your instrument. Note that not all songs will be a perfect match for every model.
4. Understand Chord Highlighting:
Chords that appear in red indicate that your handpan might be missing one or two of the required notes. In such cases, you can:
- Borrow notes from another instrument.
- Leave out the missing notes and still create a beautiful sound.
5. Visualize the PanScript:
Imagine looking through the PanScript onto your handpan:
Using the Centered Layout puts the lowest note near your belly.
Use the Split Layout if you prefer having the bottom notes to the sides.
Each icon represents a chord in the song. Follow the chords along with the music, using the lyrics to help you know when to change chord.
6. Customize Your View:
Use the buttons to adjust the side of the diagrams or text, ensuring you have the most comfortable view for playing.
